The WPA Projects in Winter Garden

Under President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal Program, Mayor George Walker secured $250,000 from the Works Progress Administration (WPA) throughout the Great Depression of the 1930s in order to construct municipal projects in Winter Garden- and put people to work. Photographs from our collection depict the many structures built during Walker’s tenure- all of which remain in use today.
