 This is the final look of the building at 100 West Plant Street in historic downtown. (Three previous “looks” have been featured in the last three issues.) In 1979, First Bankers Corporation acquired the First National Bank of Winter Garden and moved the main office to a new facility on South Dillard Street. This building became a branch office. In 1981, First Bankers spent $350,000 to significant…ly remodel the interior and exterior of the branch office. First Union took over operations in 1985. This photo was taken in January 2000 just before the downtown branch was closed. Today the historic building is used as office space. At the time of the photo, Downtown Browns, a popular sandwich shop, occupied the adjacent store and the space at 132 West Plant was a parking lot
